Calibre Global Acquires Brown Consulting

8th Nov 2011

Brown Consulting is pleased to announce that leading Australian engineering and project delivery firm Calibre Global has acquired Brown Consulting in a milestone agreement that will see the Brown Consulting brand, team and management remain, and support further growth opportunities for the Company.

Calibre Global (Calibre) is a diversified engineering and project delivery group. The company has over 1600 personnel with offices in Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Mongolia, with the majority of staff working in Western Australia. Calibre specialises in servicing the mine, rail and port sectors.

At a practical day-to-day level there will be no change for Brown Consulting. All of Brown Consulting’s staff, management and executives will remain. This agreement will help Brown Consulting access the booming mining sector and provide its staff with the opportunity to provide civil and structural engineering services to major resource projects. It also provides both Brown Consulting’s and Calibre’s clients with access to a broader pool of engineering talent and capacity.

Brown Consulting Managing Director Gary Spence said: “This is the start of a new era for our company, giving our staff the opportunity to provide civil and structural engineering services on major resource projects.  Being part of a larger company also means that we will be able to more readily fulfill our growth objectives.”

For Calibre, the acquisition of Brown Consulting is another important milestone in company’s growth strategy, which includes complementing its existing capability and broadening its market reach and service coverage. Calibre continues to expand its national footprint and the acquisition of Brown Consulting will extend its presence on the East Coast of Australia.

Calibre Global Managing Director, Rod Baxter, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Brown Consulting team into the Calibre Global group. With this acquisition, we continue to build industry’s most comprehensive, sole-source, engineering and project delivery capability.”

“We believe Brown Consulting will prove to be an excellent fit with our existing business, and will further enhance our service offerings for clients as well as extending our market reach,” he said.

Mr Baxter added it would be “business as usual” for the Brown Consulting team and its clients.
